Oaks Park in spring is sensory chaos in the best possible way—and for a neurodivergent artist, that's both thrilling and challenging. This painting captures that moment when the park erupts into colour: cherry blossoms in dusty pink overhead, a meadow scattered with daffodils, crocuses, and wildflowers below, and deep shadows beneath the trees that feel like they're holding their breath. I started with the sky—a wash of shell pink and mauve, bleeding into grey storm clouds. Spring weather in Carshalton is mercurial; sunshine one moment, rain the next. I used salt crystals while the paint was still wet to create that speckled, blossom-like texture in the pink canopy. It's a technique that requires letting go of control—much like managing ADHD—and trusting the process to resolve itself.
