When The Salvation Army told me they had chosen my painting "Hope In Bloom" for their Easter card, I was sitting in my studio in Carshalton. I read the email three times before it felt real.

600,000 cards. Distributed to donors across the UK. My daffodils. My brushstrokes.

I've been an artist all my life but this is the moment I will always remember.

🎨 Behind the painting:

*Hope In Bloom* was painted in watercolour on 100% cotton Arches cold-press paper in my studio in Carshalton, South London.

I worked wet-on-wet for the soft sky and background field of yellow, then built up the foreground daffodils with layered glazes — each petal painted separately to capture that trumpet shape.

The whole piece is 23.5 × 33.5 cm. The Salvation Army will distribute it to 600,000 people as their Easter thank-you card this year.
