Standing at Piccadilly Circus, you're at the heart of London's restless energy. But what struck me that afternoon wasn't the noise or the crowds – it was the way the sun hung there, suspended between the curved buildings, turning ordinary stone into something briefly golden.
This painting captures that moment when the city pauses to take a breath. The shadows stretch long across the street. People walk, but they're not rushing. A single car moves through the frame. The architecture curves around you like an embrace.
Piccadilly Circus is usually chaos – advertising screens, tourists, movement in every direction. But watercolour doesn't do chaos. It does light. It does calm. And on this particular afternoon, between one moment and the next, that's exactly what I found there.
This is London when you stop moving long enough to notice it's beautiful.
